Baked French Toast Recipe: Delish!!!

Making french toast is pretty simple, but this fabulous french toast recipe takes the ordinary french toast to a whole new level! It’s crispy, sweet, and delicious when topped with whipped cream or fresh fruit. This recipe is made a day in advance, so the next morning all you have to do is pop it in the oven and it bakes while you are getting ready for work or getting the kids ready for school!

 

 

Baked French Toast

  • 1 stick of butter
  • ¾ cups of brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 loaf of cinnamon raisin bread
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups of half and half
  1. In a glass bowl, beat eggs lightly.
  2. In a pan slowly melt the butter. Add brown sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Once the butter is melted, remove from heat. Add half and half and slowly add beaten eggs. (Be sure to add eggs slowly, lightly beating the entire time)
  4. Take a 9×13 inch pan and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  5. Line the pan with sliced cinnamon raisin bread.  Make this in two layers so it is thicker than just one slice.  If your bread is not pre-cut, slice bread into 1 inch thick slices.
  6. Pour egg mixture evenly over the bread.
  7. Cover the pan and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight.
  8. The next day, pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  9. Cover pan and bake for 35-40 minutes
  10. For the last 15 minutes of baking, removing foil for a crispy bread.
